dc.description.abstract | My senior project analyzes three novels. I look at the religious and patriarchal elements in Jane Eyre, The Handmaid's Tale, and The Testaments. I discuss the importance of solidarity among women, and how men turn women against each other in order to oppress them further. I also talk about how religion, specifically Christianity in the case of these novels, is used to shame women into submission. | |
