dc.description.abstract | The overall purpose of this research is to investigate the impact of gender socialization on male children. The research problem investigated how gender socialization norms and societal practices impact the development, success and mental health of male children. The research looked for a correlation between violence and gender socialization and a reverse correlation between male and female success. It used qualitative and ethnographic information from peer reviewed articles and studies and draws from the American Psychological Association (APA) Guidelines for Psychological Practice with Men and Boys 2018 and UNICEF’s 2020 data on Gender and Education. The study found that gender socialization norms and societal practices do impact development, success and mental health of male children. It found a correlation between gender socialization and male violence but it did not find a decrease in the rate of male success correlated to an increase in the rate of female success. | |
