In this Literature Review I read and described hypnosis and how it is used as a treatment for individuals experiencing a nicotine or cocaine substance dependency. In terms of my thought process behind this research project, my aim is to discuss the unsuccessful treatments for nicotine and cocaine addiction. To get an idea of what treatments work well alongside hypnosis and most importantly to understand how hypnosis treatment alone affects individuals' dependence on nicotine and cocaine. In short, the results of the research showed that hypnosis treatment does promote positive outcomes in people struggling with addiction. Hypnosis treatment paired with other treatments like behavioral therapy, nicotine patches etc. can affect quit rates greatly, by acting as a stronger combination to halt addiction.
