Depression and schizophrenia are two mental health conditions that affect millions of people worldwide. In some cases, people who have schizophrenia also have depression. In this thesis, I will discuss the pathophysiology, diagnosis, and symptoms of both schizophrenia and depression. I will then examine the comorbidity between depression and schizophrenia and how the neurotransmitters dopamine and glutamate affect these diseases. Finally, I will discuss any implications and future research on these neurotransmitters to effectively treat depression and schizophrenia from a clinical standpoint.Accessibility Statement
