This paper is a reflection on the work I made during my two years of graduate coursework in visual arts at SUNY Purchase, specific life factors that influenced the work over these two years, and how the work developed in relation to these factors. Focusing on abstract paintings and work in ceramics, the paper examines how becoming a parent and parenting two babies through a global pandemic have informed this mode of art making. Through formal descriptions of artworks that are representative of my creative output, and a discussion of art historical and contemporary artistic influences, the paper helps to elucidate what the work is about what drives the work.Accessibility Statement
