This current study was conducted to tell whether high school athletes had a greater sense of belonging in high school than non-athletes. A total of 64 students were taking psychology classes at SUNY Purchase (N = 30) and/or a student-athlete at SUNY Purchase (N = 34) participated in the study. Participants completed two retrospective measures of high school belongingness and indicated whether they were high school athletes or not. The results indicated that athletes reported greater levels of belongingness throughout their high school years than non-athletes.Accessibility Statement
