The research had three questions and goals. First, how do machismo and marianismo values and expectations impact a woman's identity? What cognitive, emotional factors does machismo and marianismo play in a woman's mental health? And, How have the experiences of machismo been integrated into the ego identity formation of Latina women? I was able to scrutinize the correlation of machismo and marianismo with negative cognitive emotional factors that impact a woman's identity.
