dc.description.abstract | While there is substantial research on parasocial relationships with celebrities and multiple studies focused on online parasocial relationships, there is not yet, a significant amount of research on parasocial relationships with Youtubers. This study seeks to discuss how parasocial relationships operate between Youtubers and fans and examine the following: (1) what factors impact the likelihood of engaging in parasocial relationships with Youtubers? (2) How do parasocial relationships with Youtubers impact well-being? Through in-depth content analysis of Youtube videos and Youtube comments from various Youtube channels, this study looks to analyze coded language and video content, as well as examine how certain online behaviors reflect real life interaction and presentation. | |
