A senior project that analyzes media representations of gender roles through Walt Disney. For decades, the Walt Disney Company has played a major influential role on developing identities through gender roles and expectations. They range from male stereotypes, female stereotypes, an unrealistic love life, false romantic expectation's, and a strong over sexualization of the immature female body. These concerning aspects need to capture the awareness of viewing audience, because it is mostly children who value Disney for its worth. This project will grab awareness by putting an emphasis on Walt Disney's inappropriate flaws, and how the company has gotten away with it for so long. This project examines the impact on young children and adolescents, and how it is still approved by parents. It will also examine the slow yet progressive change Walt Disney has accomplished starting within the early 2000's. Although there has been improvement in adding diversity among gender roles and identity, the Walt Disney Company has a long way to go, the best and fastest way to get there is with the awareness of the public.Collections
