Abstract
The Billboard Year-End Albums chart ranks the 200 best-selling music albums in the United States each year. This study aims to understand trends in music consumption by analyzing the relative age of the albums and artists on each Year-End Albums chart from 1999 to 2022. The data analysis shows an increase in the relative age of both the most successful albums and artists over the past 13 years as well as a decline in the diversity of artists achieving a similar level of success.
