dc.description.abstract | Abstract Background: Many individuals have played video games during the COVID-19 pandemic and it has been a means of occupying time because of the lockdown. It was something I was interested in because I thought I wasn’t the only one who struggled with this. Boy was I right because this was a very common problem during this time. Objective: This study focuses on why individuals have resorted to video games during the lockdown of COVID-19. It also focuses on the long-term side effects individuals went through. Not only that but this study also talks about alternatives. Design and Method: the research method is based on both YouTube videos and peer-reviewed articles as well as an extra article for the alternate activities. This research is no doubt qualitive research because of how much I learned in each source. It talks about a lot for the research questions. As a result of the quarantine during the COVID-19 pandemic, about how many hours did individuals play video games? What are the long-term side effects when individuals play video games for extensive amounts of time? Many individuals played video games as a way to occupy their time during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown. What were alternative coping strategies or activities that could have been in place instead of excessive video game playing? Results: The results of this chapter will have mixes of both resources and opinions about the results of video games during COVID-19. It also has a lot of information as well. Conclusions: Individuals play video games for many hours during the pandemic. I went through the same thing. Individuals also did crazy things you learned about while reading the capstone.
