This essay looks to examine creole identities as a tool of decolonization. Throughout this project I analyze depictions of Francophone and Anglophone Caribbean communities to understand how creoleness reshapes identity and language within the decolonial process. Through my readings of Zora Neale Hurston, Maryse Condé, and Nourbese Philips, I examine how creolization responds to histories of trauma and survival.Collections
