In this essay I discuss the way scientists, nuclear weapons, the military, and space travel are portrayed in sci-fi films of the 1950s and 60s. These films would have either an overly optimistic or overly pessimistic view of the aforementioned topics. This essay would draw on my own theories and writings from J.P. Telotte, Susan Sontag, Noël Carroll, John Dower, Ian F. Roberts, and Gary Westfahl.Collections
