Ever since the 90's, when basketball players began to sign multi-million dollar contracts, basketball took on a whole new light. To the young basketball players who put their blood, sweat, and tears into the game, basketball became more than just a sport; and the push to make it to the NBA was fueled by a little more than just the love of the game. For those who were less fortunate, and/or were African American, making it to the NBA now meant that there was a chance of upward mobility for them and their family. Basketball opened the doors for players to finally exercise that equal opportunity of the American Dream that they have heard all about. This project analyzes the written and filmed representations of young basketball players and their journey of trying to achieve that American Dream through the sport of Basketball.Accessibility Statement
