Representation, gatekeeping, and racism are some of the few issues that are still occurring in today's art world. Some of these issues begin in the classroom. This thesis is an exploration of how art can be reimagined and taught through a more inclusive, contemporary, and self-reflective lens. Miss Overreprimanded is a reflection of the artist's experiences in academia and its connections to art history. By creating a book and sash the artist takes an in depth look at how her experiences in academia as a black woman have impacted her artistic journey.Accessibility Statement
