Background: The purpose of this study is to address the concern and create awareness of burnout amongst healthcare workers in the industry. While our understanding of burnout is still vague, research and ongoing studies provide insight on its prevalence, impact, how it's measured, as well as preventive strategies and solutions. Objective: The goal of this study aims to bring awareness by researching the causes, effects and impacts that burnout syndrome has on healthcare workers in the hopes to find solutions to alleviate the work related stress syndrome known as burnout. Design and Method: The research method is based on peer reviewed literature consisting of scholars articles, journals, dissertations and online articles. The research is qualitative and quantitative in nature that includes literature from 1998- 2021. A methodological and systematic review was used to highlight the issues within burnout and as well as to identify and critic relevant research to understand burnouts cause and effects. This research aims to address the following questions: What factors influence burnout in healthcare workers? What impact does burnout have on healthcare workers? Do other factors promote rather than cause Burnout? In what ways can burnout be alleviated or solved? Results: Despite current findings and advancements in burnout, further studies are required. This is to evaluate the efficacy of certain groups and in more depth. These groups include both individual and organizational efforts and interventions that promote the psychological and mental wellbeing of its workers, patient care, overall satisfaction and productivity. Conclusions: The collaboration of both individuals and institutions in healthcare is a must in order to create solutions to solve the burnout crisis. As a result, these said studies must be conducted for us to better further our understanding as well as to accurately and effectively track, monitor and ultimately, alleviate burnout.
