The Final Girl is a staple in slasher horror films. In this paper, I examine the idea of this trope from the early 1960's in a post-"Psycho" world. Beginning with the blueprint of the final girl, Laurie Strode from "Halloween" and then pairing this with Sally Hardesty from "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" and the two final girls from "Scream": Gale Weathers and Sidney Prescott. I track the evolution of this trope, originally coined by Carol Clover, and see how the trope has evolved over time--using legacy sequels (aka requels or hard reboots) from the 2010 and 2020s of the original films to show how much the final girl has grown.
