Home, Cute, Home, inspirited by my fascination with 'cuteness', led me to research the cute object as a tool for critiquing postmodern consumption culture. Drawing on the work of cultural theorist Sianne Ngai, my project explores the dynamic between cuteness and power. By examining the relationship which we hold to the the 'cute' commodity, it is revealed how the cute object preys on our innate response to care for what is vulnerable -- a fetishized commodity which the consumer is seduced into buying.Collections
