Abstract: This senior project examines the factors that contributed to the competitiveness of the British East India Company, particularly the system of "free trade". It analyzes the methods that traders used under this system to interact with one another to gather information surrounding the trade routes and how trading networks were built and developed, and it also discuss the intensive competition of various nations for gaining wealth through trade, for building a strong navy, and highlighting the aspects of capitalism developed in the 17th century that are still present today.Collections
