dc.description.abstract | In this day and age, associating food with quality time among friends and family has become a sacred routine in the Western Culture. When people disrupt this routine they become outcasted and detested by those around them. Veganism has disrupted the rituals average Americans are used to, why could go to explain why they are disliked. Along with this distaste, within the vegan community lies many intersectional identities that are often overlooked by the primarily white, rich, thin, women. Without understanding the intersectional identities that comes with the vegan identity, it completely discounts the movement as a whole. Along with this, the vegan movement intersects with the climate activism movement. Combining all these notions together creates a space in which non-vegan and vegans alike can share ideals that envelope modern eating culture. | |
