A multimedia project exploring the social and spiritual experiences of six queer Purchase students who formerly attended Catholic education. Affliction aims to bring awareness to the casual discrimination perpetuated in these institutions. Affliction uses still images, audio interviews, and music to present a mere snapshot of common experience. In all of my interviews, these students expressed feeling excluded, different, judged, and shamed. Aiming to dismantle blatant homophobia disguised as the Church's teachings--this project is just a piece of Gia Gwin's life long work of ensuring that Catholic education is a safe space for all. https://youtu.be/aCc_D_q4jqEAccessibility Statement
