Race should not be the determiner of people's destination. Yet, racism and xenophobia are prevalent in America and always have been. "My Eyes & Yours: Possessing the Past to Confront the Present" is about my developing relationship with current world events regarding racial bigotry against Asian-Americans, as seen in the recent increase in hate crimes. My work features dissociation and reconstruction through my varied use of words, images, and found objects as an instrument to describe my sensibility based on my experience of being adopted as a Chinese-American living in the United States.
