dc.description.abstract | How I Learned To Drive was a senior capstone project in the Fall of 2021. The play focuses on how a child, who is assaulted by a family member at a young age, grows up with the lingering trauma of sexual assault from ages 11 to 30. In my senior project, I had to learn what it was like as an actor to portray trauma, while keeping my own mental health in tact. After a 2 year pandemic in which I wasn't able to perform, this was quite the role to take on. I learned about myself through collaboration with my peers, as well as the history and affects of sexual assault through childhood to adulthood. Performing in How I Learned To Drive was not easy, but it was well worth it. | |
