dc.description.abstract | After radio tagging, Pacific Salmon (Coho and Chinook) dispersed widely along shore (spring) and throughout Lake Ontario (summer) in 1984. They did not occupy areas near shore after water temperatures exceeded 9-10 oC, except when winds produced upwelling of colder water at the lake’s surface close to shore in summer. No significant differences were observed between the two species re: distances moved, daily movement rates, and water temperature occupied. One fish moved at least 500 km during 4 months of tracking. | en_US |
