A feature-length screenplay about homecoming and the deep yearning to relive the life you once had. LOGLINE: A lonesome Filipino photographer must reconcile with seeing those he loves falling into the arms of another, on his sensuous journey home. SYNOPSIS: Umali had an idyllic youth— his loving parents taught him early on to give love and express it freely. So freely that at nineteen, Umali ignites a relationship with their housekeeper’s son Primo, and together, they foster a bond so wise and gentle for their age. Complications soon arise when the two boys face significant losses: Umali with his father’s battle with cancer and Primo with the death of his mother in childbirth. Without these figures to guide them, the two inevitably part ways. Bygone picks up eight years later in New York, with Umali receiving the news that his mother is marrying again. His return to the Philippines for the wedding unravels to examine the romance of remembering, the subtlety of grief, and the cruel ironies of time.Accessibility Statement
