Hitler's election is something that many people feel they do not know how to reconcile? Many people refuse to believe someone so evil could come to power. However, he was not the only one at the time, as there were several authoritarian governments cropping up at the time in places like Italy, Poland and Hungary. This demonstrates the precedent set for people like Hitler coming to power. This contradicts the Sonderweg theory which states that Germany was unique in its fall to fascism. While Nazism was a perfect storm of financial ruin and convoluted political maneuvering on Hitler and many other German higher ups' account, it was a perfect storm that had elements of it occurring in other European countries. Therefore, the rise of the Nazis was a disaster, but it was a disaster that had a precedent of happening before and sets a precedent of happening again.
