An examination of the portrayal of persons in media dealing with self-isolation in relation to the Hikikomori movement depicted in the 2023 Spring Mainstage production of The Attic, by Y?ji Sakate, this senior project in Theatre & Performance unfolds the perception, causation, and interpretation of three case studies (two non- fictional, one fictional) of Hikikomori-like individuals, as well as one taken from the play itself. The aim of this project is to fuse research presented in a multimedia format, alongside personal reflection and insight into the performance process.Collections
