dc.description.abstract | My objective is to curate a queer magazine for Purchase College Students. During my adolescents I felt isolated from others due to the lack of queer representation in my life. It was difficult to find queer content as a child to fill this void of confusion. Coming to Purchase college was a major culture shock because of the growing queer community on campus. This project is a love letter to our Queer community on campus and they are my main inspiration for this project. The project is designed to empower students to use the resources on campus from the Counseling Center and QPOC club. There are other sections that are dedicated to encouraging students to find self-love and self-acceptance. Students have also contributed to the magazine by sharing stories My magazine is designed with the inspiration of the current LGBTQIA+ flag, and each section/article has a color coordinated with it. Each color on the flag is symbolic and each article displays each color. | |
