dc.description.abstract | This Capstone Paper will both examine and analyze the appropriation of African American culture, specifically in the Korean music industry. This paper will narrow down will study Korean Popular Music by focusing on K-Pop sensation BTS. This paper will be analyzing the appropriation of African American culture through qualitative research. The qualitative research incorporated into this paper are as follows: peer-reviewed articles, social media posts/dialogue, photographic evidence, and interviews. The research questions that will be answered are: "In what ways has African American Culture specifically been appropriated in Kpop?" and "How is Cultural Appropriation detrimental to African Americans?". | |
