Emotionally bonding with simulated memorabilia: stitching together objects that come from the part of my memory that is completely made-up has helped me feel attached to something when I so often feel detached from everything. When the world became too hard-edged, I ran away to the circus, somewhere I can more easily process the absurdity of not only living but making art about it. Saudade: "I miss you." Longing for something I've never experienced has become a vehicle for exploring my imagination, asking my soul and heart what it aches for and making it a reality in the present. What happens when I slip into shoes that aren't mine? What can I learn from putting the spotlight on projections of my shadow self? (The Picture of Dorian Gray (1945)) Should my inner-child take the wheel?Accessibility Statement
