This paper discusses the phenomenon of Japanese popular culture slowly integrating itself into American society. It gives a brief history of the numerous types of culture and how over time they became the new mainstream. One can also find which titles were the trailblazers for this, as well as which are the most popular today. Furthermore, one can find some of the countless reasons to why this is taking place. The goal of this paper is to provide a framework of understanding why anime, manga and video games have become a facet of American culture.
