My senior project will help me to better understand arts organization funding for social justice programs. For that purpose, I decided to research the work done by Rehabilitation Through The Arts (RTA) and their program with the Hudson Valley Incarceration System. My goal is to verify how RTA strategizes for funding resources when dealing with marginalized subjects, and whether RTA can reinforce the positive outcome of its programs to society, politicians, and local leaders. Considering criticism on some arts and social practice, my sub-questions are: how does the project impact participants (inmates) in the long run? How do these impacts influence the communities where the participants belong to or live at? To support my findings, I have taken an internship with RTA in the fall 2020 semester. The ethnographic approach used on my research consisted of interviews and analysis of material (art works) produced by the participants during my internship periodAccessibility Statement
