Texture modification is the most common form of treatment among patients with dysphagia. It has been associated with a significant number of successful therapy outcomes for swallowing disorders. In contrast it has also been correlated with a high rate of malnutrition cases. Modifying texture to accommodate swallowing may compromise the nutritional value of food being administered. A multidisciplinary approach is crucial in preventing and managing dehydration, malnutrition, and increased risk of illness.Description
