In what ways has a story defined an object that is personal to you? We all own objects. An object is often connected with a memory, a history, an emotional attachment. As we start to shift our crafts, storytellings, and memories to a digital space, we must remember not to lose value in physical materials. My project titled Your Room is a Museum is a collection of stolen, gifted, thrifted, and found objects from people living in New Paltz, NY. The project is designed as an online exhibit, produced alongside promotional materials and a print catalog. My project will serve as an opportunity to retell the story of an object — through material research and personal accounts of the owners it has been passed to. I hope to inspire people to reflect on the material objects that surround them through a critical lens, because our objects will become artifacts, as we know it.The following license files are associated with this item:
