Abstract
Technology majorly impacts the way individuals socialize. In this era, Instagram is one of the most popular forms of communication for young adult women. As time goes on, research increasingly suggests the app is highly addictive and can result in a variety of mental health consequences. This study endeavors to demonstrate the symptoms and consequences of Instagram addiction within the 18-29-year-old female population and reason why this app is used so consistently despite numerous outstanding research warnings about its psychological effects. Results obtained via an anonymous digital survey revealed that over 90% of the targeted group use the app every single day. These participants disclosed the roots of their insecurities and shared their obsessive feelings for the app, providing evidence of the toxicity of Instagram’s influence.
