Abstract
There has historically been a lack of access to therapy for Black people. This paper explores why there is a gap in research surrounding music therapy and Black people and why music therapy is an ideal form of therapy for Black people. It will define music therapy, explore the nature of the stigma against therapy in the Black community, and specific obstacles in accessing care. This paper aims to release judgement and shame surrounding therapy to create space for healing.
