Abstract
The Nugents, desperados who once ran Franklin County PA, slipping through every crack in the system, living with the constant knowledge that everyone around them wanted them dead, yet still pushed forward. It was reckless, desperate, and, somehow, heroic. There's a pull to that kind of life – a refusal to kneel – even knowing the harsh inevitability that defiance invites.
I keep looking for the modern outlaw – not just a lawbreaker, but someone who pushes against the hard edges of a place, testing what gives and what doesn't. In my work, that tension emerges in the pull between presence and invisibility, risk and rejection, and the complex relationship between individuals and the landscapes they navigate.
