Abstract
This capstone essay wanders through gay and lesbian liberation history to search for queer typography. Graphic design presents itself as a straightforward communication tool, but often it fails to deliver diverse solutions. Disrupting graphic design norms, liberation activists used publishing as a way to develop a printed network of care when they couldn't publicly. Reflecting on their tradition, I created a body of work about my own experience with queerness. The resulting images articulate complex feelings about my body and my vision, and defy the expectations of modern graphic design.
