Abstract
Collectible card games and table-top board games often feature mechanics across genres that contribute to a game's unique gameplay. Playing cards in a tactics-based game often present weapons or added mechanics that benefit non-weapon-based cards in play. At present, despite the large variety of genre and mechanics possibilities, there have been no published games that feature a mechanic where all game cards serve as weapons with the possibility to attack. This project aims to make a game based on that concept by making a combination of collectible card games like "Magic: The Gathering" and "Yu-gi-oh" that encourage strategic and tactical thinking using "Minecraft" and everyday items and limit the players within the space of a board. The overall goal upon finishing this project is to contribute to the resurrection of the communities that were originally dedicated to the original game's release. This thesis will provide an explanation of the motivation behind beginning development of a card game based on the Minecraft extensions/ plugins called "Chesticuffs," as well as the history behind its previous development and subsequent failure. Provided is a walkthrough of the process of designing the physical copy while engineering the digital copy. In this project the back-end was developed with the Java programming language and the front-end with JavaScript and html-css, while JSON files hold the information. As the majority of the code is Java, the examples shown will be on how the language was used to implement the mechanics of the game. We will conclude with explaining and expanding on the progression of certain aspects of the game.
