Abstract
In contemporary discourse, there is a wide and expansive realm of portrayals of femininity in media and society, reflecting changes in cultural values and identity. Heterosexual feminine identity often aligns with culturally prescribed roles and expectations. The archetypes of mother, daughter, and wife, are not only socially understood but palatable. Consequently, queer femininity subverts traditional gender roles and provides alternative frameworks for understanding feminine identity. Contemporary works, such as Jen Silverman's Collective Rage: A Play in 5 Betties, continue to integrate these concepts as characterized manifestations.
