Abstract
My work is fundamentally rooted in systems, transformations, and protection, and how they have each informed my identity and experience. As someone who was assigned female at birth and is perceived as a woman, the patriarchal system has heavily affected my life. Additionally, as a first-generation American, the immigration system has deeply impacted myself and my family, which has led me to explore the politicization of the body within my art. Through this perspective, I find that the line between fiber arts and painting has the contextual ability to formalize these core ideas and develop a discussion around the issues accompanying them.
