Abstract
The present literature review examines some of the potential social and individual psychological factors that are associated with pro and destructive environmental behavior. Some of the factors consist of individual health effects on environmental behavior, individual personality, control and value factors. The review also goes over the impact of social psychological factors on ecological behaviors. Some social psychology factors consist of the effects of mass media, self-identification within social groups, and public understanding. This review also explores how change theories can be applied to environmental behaviors. Finally, recommendations for future research and public policy that promote environmental awareness and pro-environmental behavior are explored.
