Abstract
This curriculum connects with the New York State (NYS) Next Generation Mathematics Standards that
were created from the Common Core State Standards. This curriculum was designed to encourage student
engagement in the Algebra 1 classroom through guided notes and gamification. The curriculum includes lessons
for solving quadratic equations by factoring, completing the square, and the quadratic formula. The fourth
lesson is a gamification unit-review activity of the three prior lessons for solving quadratic equations. Keys for
all instructional materials are included in the appendix.
