Abstract
This paper describes the process of solo video game development of a 2D action platformer in the game development engine Godot version 4.3. All of the visuals are pixel art, created in the program Aseprite. The main mechanic of the game is using a lance as both a weapon and a tool for platforming — putting it into the ground and wall blocks to hurl the player around. The initial ideas through the creation of the game are described — both the research of what's needed and the first implementation — then critiqued with the details of how they were improved. The project resulted in a barebones demo and an entire introductory level.
