THE AMERICAN DREAM IDEOLOGY IS COMPRISED OF THREE MAJOR FACTORS: EDUCATION, A GOOD JOB, AND A HOME IN A GOOD NEIGHBORHOOD. SO WHAT HAPPENS WHEN ONE OF THESE SYSTEMS FAILS? "AMERICAN DREAM: STATE OF FAILURE" LOOKS AT THE FAILURE OF THE PUBLIC HIGH SCHOOL IN HEMPSTEAD, NY. COMPRISED OF MOSTLY AFRICAN AMERICANS AND IMMIGRANT FAMILIES THE FILM TAKES A LOOK AT THE STRUGGLES OF MINORITY NEIGHBORHOODS AND THE FAILURE OF PUBLIC EDUCATION."
