Abstract
This thesis analyzes the role of nationalism during the American response to the 1918 Influenza Pandemic. With Covid-19 ravaging the world, many people chose to look back to history for answers about how to beat the current pandemic. In 1918, another pandemic similar to the one we face occurred. In both pandemics, nationalism effected the way our leaders responded to the crises. This thesis will examine the impacts on a medical, political, and communicational scale.
