Abstract
Bloater (Coregonus hoyi), a once economically and ecologically important prey species, were extirpated from lake Ontario around the mid-1900s and restoration efforts have been ongoing since 2012. I reviewed and tested environmental DNA (eDNA) assays that are designed to detect bloaters, using eDNA samples from laboratory and field sites.
