Abstract
So Blows the Wind is a sculptural video installation exploring the transition from childhood to adulthood through the lens of nature, myth, and personal symbolism. The work centers on a film that follows "Young Bird," a girl navigating encounters with loss, failure, and mortality, ultimately confronting the desire to escape and transcend human limitation. Using found materials–cardboard, fabric, spray foam–I construct props and costumes that blur the line between the natural and artificial. These sculptural elements emphasize the tension between the longing to merge with nature and the impossibility of fully doing so. Rooted in ecofeminism, phenomenology, and neo-romanticism, this work reflects a resistance to patriarchal values of control and disconnection. Through poetic imagery and surreal storytelling, So Blows the Wind invites viewers to reflect on their own relationship to nature, self, and transformation–offering a space for emotional resonance, rupture, and reconnection.
