Abstract
Why Don't You Write About Your Life is a memoir detailing Victoria's experiences with reading and writing, and focuses on how the two have transformed from mechanisms for escapism into tools for growth and healing. The Project combines techniques used in both Literature and Creative writing studies in order to analyze Victoria's own writing styles and techniques, as well as how they correlate with the techniques employed by authors she has studied and analyzed in the Literature program. The project is meant to read as one cohesive narrative, with individual works of Victoria's writing embedded within it. In order to achieve this, the memoir consists of 5 numbered and titled sections, with line breaks and symbols indicating shifts in ideas and pieces within the sections. The project contains one completed literary analysis: "The Repression and Redemption of Women in Writing," one short story: "Still Life," one poem: "Do you Still Call Me your Daughter," and seven personal narrative essays. All these works are woven together with the creative nonfiction which makes up the overarching narrative.
