Abstract
The current political climate and rhetoric surrounding the immigration crisis of the norther triangle to the U.S is unforgiving. Trump's administration tears immigrant families apart everyday under the pretext that those immigrating are a threat to national security. The crisis that has unfolded in Central America has a history of U.S intervention which this paper seeks to dig into and bring to light. This history of U.S intervention is one shared by Latin American countries. However, the history of U.S intervention in Central America is specifically important in this time period as it explains many of the ways policies impacted the region and made it deeply unstable leading to the refugee crisis we are witnessing today.
